A quote from a participant in Bare Reality
An article came out in The Daily Beast about how women are finally making their voices heard and are sharing their stories, humor and feelings about their breasts / bodies. Does one believe girls eventually are regaining control over their bodies and representations of them?
I think there are artworks, campaigns and movements around the world which present a strong turning of the tide. For example, I love the Stealthy Liberty' photos coming out of Iran.
What surprised you the most in carrying this out project?
A great number of aspects of the project surprised me. I never could have anticipated how long it would take, for one thing! I was surprised by the women's stories. I could actually say I learned a lot. Breasts are interesting in themselves, but in this project they were also catalysts for talking about very intimate facets of our lives as women and I interviewed such a diverse variety of girls. I also could not have predicted how this artistic journey would change me. To be honest I grew up believing my breasts fell short, that they didn't measure up to the perfect media breasts I saw around me. I think that ageing, maturity, and breastfeeding has enhanced my self-image. But undertaking this endeavor has seen the largest change. I feel quite tender about the female encounter now. And I enjoy myself more as a woman and I enjoy my breasts more. So https://s3.amazonaws.com/beach-naturist/nudist-beach-hard-cock.html like to think this endeavor has the power to transfer and enlighten individuals and perhaps transform their relationship with breasts, too.
You established your Kickstarter and surpassed your targeted target in less than 35 hours! Which is amazing! Why do you believe it so rapidly triumphed, particularly when so many other kickstarter projects fail?
I think there is certainly an undeniable desire for honest pictures and private, strong stories, and Bare Reality resonated with women and men. Sure, sometimes dream is wonderful, but we need and want a healthy dose of reality. I was told by representatives that although they adored this endeavor it wouldn't normally be commercial enough, that it would just appeal to girls, that I'm not well-known. I think audiences are always underestimated. They do not only want safe', commercial novels, TV and films.
I have seen similar photo jobs focused on body image, where the creators don't seem to think twice about censoring specific parts in order to make it more "shareable" on-line and "accessible to everyone." Folks have requested censored versions of your work so they can share them on Facebook / social media. Your response was a definite "no." Why?
